Peregrine falcon stars on ID quarter

Id_quarter The design for Idaho's state quarter was released today. It features the head of a peregrine falcon, the state's motto "Let it be perpetual," and an illustration of our state's distinctive shape.

Given the two top alternatives - a farmland tapestry or lyrics to the state song - the falcon is a good choice. With luck, coverage of the quarter's 2007 release will help bring attention to the work of the Idaho-based Peregrine Fund and its World Center for Birds of Prey, which works with raptors to monitor environmental health and promote species conservation.
