Although summer is still in full swing, July 29 marks the start of the 100-Day Countdown to Election Day 2006. Ada County Democrats will celebrate the occasion with a picnic from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Cassia Park on the Boise Bench. We'll hear from gubernatorial nominee Jerry Brady and other candidates, and learn what needs to happen in the next few short months to elect candidates who represent mainstream Idaho values and a vision for the future. This is part of a nationwide Democratic Reunion happening this weekend to mark the start of election campaign season. The picnic is free to all; just call the Ada County Dems' office at 331-2128 to let 'em know you're coming.
The Idaho Democratic Party has hit the ground running with its best-ever coordinated campaign. You can help by signing up to go door-to-door to tell your neighbors about the great slate of Democrats we have running this year. All over the state, canvassers are learning that many people - even some longtime Republicans - are hungry for the Democratic message of honest leadership, open government, and opportunity for all.
Reach out and show your neighbors that Democrats are a real and growing presence in Idaho. Canvassing is fun, and all training and materials are provided. The triple-digit heat wave is ending soon, so contact field canvass directors Jeannie Miller at (208) 871-8183 or Gariety Pruitt at (208) 720-1357 and learn how you can help elect more Democrats in Idaho. If you're outside Ada County, contact the state party at (800) 542-4737 to find a local canvass director near you.
