Bumped to the top for this weekend ...
I know quite a few of you Red State Rebels readers are major history buffs. Volunteer judges are urgently needed for Idaho History Day events, which include regional contests on March 10 and March 17 and the state competition on April 13 at Albertson College of Idaho in Caldwell. This year's theme is "Triumph and Tragedy in History."
History Day is actually a national, year-long program that gives students an opportunity to learn about historical issues, ideas, people, and events. Judges - who need no experience - will work in teams of three to review entries and interview the students about their historical essays, documentaries, exhibits, performances, or websites. (The website category is new this year. It won't be introduced nationally until next year, but Idaho is piloting the competition this year.)
Judges are on duty from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., with breakfast and lunch provided, along with a briefing on judging do's and don'ts. If you are interested in volunteering, contact Karen Grindle or David Erin Anthony at the Idaho Historical Museum at 334-2120, ext. 19.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! We have three competitions, each one needs about 80 to 90 volunteers for success. Currently we have about 40. Any help would be appreciated!!

I'll be an NHD judge for my seventh year (in Idaho Falls) and strongly encourage anyone with even the slightest interest in history or education to participate as a judge.
The kids who participate are phenomenal, and it's a great opportunity to reward their six months of hard work.
I've enjoyed it immensely every year, and every year I'm amazed at how much I learn from the students!
