Craig watch: 51 isn't enough

Larry Craig is having fun with the fact Democrats hold the slimmest of majorities in the Senate. The Idaho Statesman's Dan Popkey (remember him?!) wrote about Craig's Thursday appearance before the City Club of Boise:

"I'm in my 27th year in Washington representing you, and 16 of those 27 years were in the minority," Craig said. "I'm a helluva trench fighter and I love every moment of it. First of all, you don't have to show up on time to chair the committees!"

Craig said he enjoys seeing Democrats struggle to run the Senate with their 51-49 majority. "Actually, it's fun to watch Harry (Reid) try to control his majority. He's now finding out that it really is like trying to put rabbits back in the wheelbarrow. I was watching John Kerry the other day lecturing Harry Reid. It was fun to watch it happen."

According to Popkey, Craig seems to be leaning toward another run. Whether he wins or not, there will be more than 51 Democratic senators come January 2009. I'd love to see 61, just to wipe that smirk off his face.

As for Popkey, who has been on assignment for months tracking something about Craig, we're all looking forward to reading what you have, Dan.

Hmmmm, this is Idaho's senior senator? Sounds like a whiney little school girl (no offense to school girls.)

I though his comments about "objecting" just because and not having to act responsibly were equally in poor taste.
