LaRocco webcast at 10 Mtn today
Larry LaRocco seems to "get" the netroots. He'll be announcing his candidacy for the U.S. Senate at 10 a.m. Mountain/9 a.m. Pacific at his website. It's Idaho's first statewide web-based announcement for a political campaign.
He sent word of this to bloggers as well as to the mainstream media, and he'll be doing a statewide conference call with all the press - traditional and new media - later this week. For any of us interested in talking with him before or after that, he sent his phone number.
In other words, LaRocco is raising the bar many notches in terms of open access to and appreciation for the media - both the people who are paid for their efforts and citizen bloggers who do their work as a labor of love for our state and country. Bravo, Larry.
Watch the announcement at 10 or after, then come back here and comment on what you hear.

Which bloggers did he send word to? Whoever they were, I wasn't included. Ah well.

Ah, the drawbacks of BCC. Well, there were about 15 people on my copy, including a mix of mainstream and new media.
Not sure where he got the list, but I am sure he will want to add you, Jessica. I'll forward what I got to you.

As I mention in my blog (http://senate2008guru.blogspot.com/2007/04/exiting-entering-and-everything-in.html), LaRocco's "I believe we need to take our country in a new direction—a new direction based on the core Idaho values of independence, accountability, and responsibility" sounds a lot like Senator Jon Tester's "Let's make Washington D.C. look a little more like Montana."
Let's hope it resonates as well!

Progressive Oregonians are cheering for our neighbors and friends in Idaho. Go Larry! Now to get rid of Gordon Smith in Oregon.
