Keeping tabs on Bill Sali
The Larry Craig saga has sucked the oxygen out of Idaho politics lately, so much so that Bill Sali has continued to cast crazy votes with very little notice nor oversight - except from the MountainGoat Report, which thankfully keeps on putting Sali's voting record in the spotlight.
Sali gets a bit more scrutiny Thursday as Huckleberries Online promises a live interview with him at 2 p.m. Pacific time. (Hopefully not during the SCHIP vote ... ) You can submit questions in advance here.
Incidentally, Swing State Project has a rundown on 3rd-quarter House fundraising. Sali took in $79K last quarter, while Larry Grant - whom he narrowly beat in 2006 - collected just $25K. (Rand Lewis, also seeking the Democratic nomination, is not listed there nor at the FEC website.) On a happier note, it appears that Sali piled up about $180K in debt last quarter. Still, it looks like it's time to start helping Larry Grant build a decent war chest for 2008. Idaho Democratic bloggers have a donation page here; you can donate to Grant, Lewis, or the eventual Dem nominee - but let's start helping now.
Update: Grant was at the Wednesday rallies to help save SCHIP in Boise and Caldwell. Check out the write-up and photos (from Coeur d'Alene, too) at his blog.
Are any of us surprised by this man's votes any more? I swear he's like a 3 year old child throwing a temper tantrum on the floor of the house. Does he think he's serving the people of the 1st CD? I agree, time to get some help to Larry Grant and make a difference. Folks, it's put up or shut up time. If WE EVER EXPECT TO GAIN SOME LEVEL OF COMPETATIVENESS OR RESPECT IN THIS STATE, NOW IS THE TIME. We have not one but two very possible seats. We need to make the difference, NOW.
Just an FYI, go to KTVB.COM and click on the comments section to last evening's interviews with Senator Craig. Interesting responses by people.

I got to meet Mr. Grant yesterday as he was gathering signatures, mine included. He seems to be in his fighting trim and I applaud his campaigning efforts.

What a waste of time the HBO interview of Bill Sali was. Julie's question was dodged without complaint from DFO. And when I called him on it he got majorly defensive. d2 gives some insightful observations as a result of that exchange. Click my name.
