Just got this note from Peter Remmen from the Coalition for Healthy Idaho Communities, a group that fought the Sempra coal-fired power plant in the Magic Valley earlier this year. This is the week Idahoans need to contact the state Board of Environmental Quality to request that Idaho OPT OUT of the EPA's mercury cap-and-trade program. (Click here to read what's at stake.)
Messages must be received by Tuesday to be considered when the board holds its meeting in Coeur d'Alene this week. Here's all you need to say:
I request that Idaho OPT OUT of the federal cap and trade program for mercury emissions.
Send your email to the DEQ Board of Environmental Quality, with a copy to Gov. Jim Risch.
