We did it ... more than a thousand people have kicked into Larry Grant's campaign via the national netroots page at ActBlue, and Larry has now raised $20,299 (as of 4:48 p.m. Mountain). Thanks to everyone who contributed. (And if you didn't get a chance or you just now deposited your paycheck, the page will be there through Election Day!)
This is about so much more than money, of course. This is about showing that many small contributions can add up to change the way politics are done in the United States. It's about us all having a voice, whether we give $10 or $1000 (or nothing, for that matter). It's about sending a message to the fat cat plutocrats - Karl Rove and the Club for Growth and the like - that this is our country, too, and we will use our time, talent, and treasure to elect people who will represent all Americans.
So take some time tonight to pat yourselves on the back and offer a toast to grassroots-driven democracy. Then go out and work for your favorite candidate a little bit this weekend - and every weekend between now and Election Day. We're going to turn this ship around five weeks from now.
