There's a lame duck in the White House and a misognystic quack running the show for Population Affairs at the Department of Health and Human Services. Like a certain congressman-elect we all know and loathe, George W. Bush's pick to oversee the nation's family planning programs, Eric Keroack, insists there's a link between abortion and breast cancer. He's called contraception "demeaning" to women. (Yes indeed, it's demeaning as heck to have control over whether and when you have children.) And now we learn, according to an item buried at the bottom of a Washington Post story, that he failed to renew his board certification as an ob-gyn when his credentials expired last year.
Hat tip to McJoan at Daily Kos and Jessica at Feministing for this one. Unfortunately, Keroack's position did not require Senate confirmation, but it's not too late to demand that he go. For the sake of every woman and girl you know, write or call HHS Secretary Mike Leavitt and tell him to replace Keroack, stat.
In my letter to Leavitt, I even pulled out the "as a woman and a scientist" line. Have you seen this guy's picture? I'm pretty sure that HHS got tricked by Borat.

Sara, did you write Leavitt via email or snail mail? I tried to find an email on the HHS site, to no avail.
