Good news, for now, at least: The dairy that wanted to launch a 20,000+ cattle confined animal feeding operation just over a mile from the Minidoka Internment National Monument in Jerome County has withdrawn its application, although it appears another application from the same outfit may be on the way.
Meanwhile, state Rep. Wendy Jaquet and state Sen. Clint Stennett have introduced legislation to ensure that affected citizens have an opportunity to testify at public hearings over CAFO sites. The bill also would eliminate the restriction now in Idaho Code that limits testimony to people living within a mile of a proposed CAFO.
Rotsa ruck. They tried that one-mile legislation last session, didn't they?
