Julie, you know an online poll is worth practically nothing, right?

Julie in Boise

Of course. Probably only about 60% want to see him impeached. And if the poll was taken at Fox, it'd be below 50%.

Jessica

It is worth SOMETHING because if nothing else, people look at the results and though not scientific, regular folks, including myself, use it to provide some insight into what Americans are thinking. And I do think it can be persuasive to people.

Julie in Boise

Jessica, I agree. Clearly, a sizable majority of Americans now believe that the Bush presidency has been very bad for America in many ways.

What we really need, it's become painfully clear, are much larger D majorities in both houses of Congress. For now, Ds and moderate Republicans need to join forces to do what they can do until we achieve that end in Novermber 08.

This poll also shows Americans will be in the mood to vote for a Democrat for the presidency next year, which is the only way we're going to move things forward. Closely divided government does not work in a time when we're already in such dire straits from the Bush admin's mismanagement of our affairs.

The Nickel-Plated JA

Jessica, therein lies the problem: they provide FALSE insight into what people are thinking. Google "Chuck Norris Bridge" to get an idea of how far they can go....

Unfortunately, online polls are a form of online speech that, while I'm generally opposed to such regulation, the FEC probably needs to step into, precisely because they can be such a great "wealth" of convincing-sounding misinformation. I should know -- I'll admit to having doctored a few (non-political) in my younger years.

Sisyphus

What the online poll tells me is that there are 410,382 people that agree that the President has engaged in misconduct warranting impeachment despite the fact there were three other choices. Of course such would be pointless unless we remove Cheney first. Why remove the puppet when you'll only get the puppeteer.

The Nickel-Plated JA

No. There were 410,382 VOTES (taking your number at face value). That means nothing in terms of people... I think in one online poll a number of years ago I personally cast like 55,000 votes (spoofing their supposed anti-multiple-vote system) for Jenni Ringley.

NPJA, you must have had way too much time on your hands.
