Just got this from Jim Hansen of United Action for Idaho:
If you live in the Treasure Valley, we are back by popular demand with Camp Democracy. This time in Nampa thanks to the organizing prowess of Maria Gonzalez-Mabbutt and others. I know it is short notice but the trainers were available that weekend and several folks are putting together organizing efforts that will benefit from the training. We start at 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 7 and go to noon on Sunday the 9th. Five great meals included in the very low price of $75.
Camp Democracy can help you get the skills you need to organize a campaign to change local or state policy or elect people who share your values. Call 331-7028 for more info or to sign up.
Thanks Julie! We had such a great gathering in Coeur d'Alene two weeks ago. One of the organizing scenarios the participants picked was to get the legislature to pass a law requiring PERSI to divest from corporations funding genocide in Sudan and invest in other corporations (there are plenty). This is a real strategy UVI is working on with other wonderful community leaders.
