Just some quick reminders about the many out-of-Iraq actions planned this week:
This afternoon, at 4 p.m. Mountain/3 p.m. Pacific, a Virtual Town Hall coinciding with George W. Bush's Seattle-area visit is set at www.darcyburner.com. Burner, a Congressional candidate hoping to represent Washington's 8th District, has emerged as a top critic of the war.
All week, dozens of Idahoans are staging a nonviolent sit-in at the Boise offices of Sens. Larry Craig and Mike Crapo. Two at a time, supported by others on the sidewalks outside, they are keeping vigil within the senators' offices to express hope that our leaders will follow other Republicans in questioning the wisdom of an endless occupation of Iraq.
Tomorrow night, a Take a Stand town hall meeting set for 7 p.m. at the Boise Senior Activities Center, 690 Robbins Road (off Fort Street, by the Fort Boise Community Center), will give others an opportunity to express and record their views on the war. This is one of 600 vigils planned tomorrow all across the nation and beyond. Interested people can be videotaped for one to three minutes speaking, singing, praying, or otherwise expressing their support for the troops and their wishes for an end to the war in Iraq. "We will send the video to the four men who represent us in Congress and will ask them to take a stand," says organizer Jim Hansen.
If you can't make any of these, at least call Sen. Crapo (208-334-1776) and Sen Craig (208-342-7985) and say enough is enough ... it's time to find a way to end this war.
JULIE!!!!!! Go to THINK PROGRESS. Craig has been busted for lewd conduct!

We are ready here in Vegas for our Take A Stand town hall and vigil. We have great speakers including an Iraq war vet and two military family members, one has a son on his third tour in Iraq and another had a brother in Iraq but he recently returned.
I will have pics and more info on my blog tomorrow after the event. But for now I will be phone banking.

The actions of Senator Craig for which he was arrested, then the choices he made following the event (lying) just perpetuates the feeling that you can do whatever you want in this state, as long as you have that little letter "R" next to your name.

Jeez, Julie - how are we going to discuss this?! What a quandary.
I got up early (for me) around 6am, checked the news/blogs, etc., saw I'd missed the eclipse but could still get some stellar shots of this big-ass moon in the western sky. Grab the camera, hop in the car, and the chase is on. I'm listening to various rock stations (J105, 96-The Eagle, & my personal fav: 94.9) and NPR/PRI. The guys on J105, ohmigawd, were up in arms because of the bullshit statement from Craig's office. They thought Craig should resign and in fact, posed it as a call-in question.
It just makes me giggle suddenly and without reason. My advice - just be who you really are then you don't have to keep your lies straight. (Really, no pun intended there) ;)

Sen. Craig has officially stepped down from former Gov. Romney's campaign. Is this the first step towards total self destruction?
More than this, doesn't this morning news just make you proud to be an Idahoan? Let's see, what other stories are floating out there today????
Idaho has the worst fire watch in the nation. Oh and incidentally which state has the most lenient regulatations for foresters? Oh yeah, IDAHO
Turning to sports....Michael Vick plead guilty to charges stemming from dog fighting which took place at his home in Viginia. In most states dog fighting is a felony. Now, for the bonus question, can you name one of the two states its not? YOU GUESSED IT! Good ol Idaho.
Sarcasm and thoughts for the day...

Oh, lighten up. It's not like ya get off scot-free! It is a misdemeanor after all.

Hey all,
Like I said, I am in no position to discuss this or promote discussion of it, due to my position on the Larry LaRocco campaign.
But other Idaho blogs are buzzing, so go join the conversations at 43rd State Blues, MountainGoat, New West, Idablue, The Political Game, etc.
Also of note: Mike Rogers - the blogger who outed Craig last fall - will be on the Ed Shultz show at 10:30 a.m. Mountain today.

I would just say that all the Craig drama should NOT sidetrack folks today from the important and coordinated message about Iraq.
There are MANY events across the country today and that deserves folks energy today.

I absolutely agree with theresa. Ending the Iraq occupation is Job One. If we do that, we can address so many other issues that have gone begging for attention during the past seven scandal-filled years: health care, education, the economy, and safe infrastructure.
Our eyes must be on the prize of a just and compassionate America. Go to the senior center at 7 tonight if you can; if not, contact the delegation and say you support an end to the occupation.

Trust me, nothing sidetracks me from the Iraq issue. I also think most people I know aren't sidetracked by news like Larry's downfall.
See ya at 7:00 pm.....just gotta remember to clock out for dinner.
