Three years ago, while still in his early 30s and after many years of community involvement, Sean Spence came within nine votes of winning a seat in the Idaho Legislature. Since then, he has worked on several political campaigns in his native Midwest, but he's now on what may be his biggest adventure of all: riding his bicycle from Missouri to Manhattan.
He's doing it to raise awareness of multiple sclerosis, which Sean learned that he has a few years ago, and raise funds for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Of course, he is keeping a blog to chronicle his journey. Today is Day 11, and he is in Kentucky - with new tires! Check out Sean's trip and contribute something to his mission if you can. (There's an online donation link on the site.)
Sean almost won in District 17, and he helped pave the way for a Democratic sweep there in 2006. Don't forget the District 17 picnic this Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Cassia Park.

Thanks for the shout-out, Julie. The trip is going well, with another 1000 or so miles to go. And thanks for commenting at www.MissouriToManhattan.com -- the support from friends and others keeps me going on this very long trip.
