This is my initial experience announcing legislative candidates. When I took the position of county chair, not quite a year ago, I thought we were another election cycle away from having a strong slate of candidates. Subsequent events have proven me wrong. Not only do we have strong candidates for this race, there is strong support coming from our 53 Neighborhood Leaders. We are planning on working diligently for all our Democratic candidates but are especially proud to have the following candidates for state legislature.
Carolyn Elexpuru has filed for State Representative in Legislative 24, position B against Sharon Block. Carolyn is a former Gooding county commissioner.
In Legislative District #23, Bill Chisholm has filed for state senator. Peter Rickards has filed for state representative Position A, and Mike Ihler for State representative position B.
Further, our Jerome county neighbor Scott McClure is filing for state senator in legislative district 26.
Right on, Twin Falls!

If I'm not mistaken, Elexpuru is a former Republican county commissioner from Gooding County who's come over to our side.
The precinct chairs look much better here as well. In 2006 we had two on the ballot in the entire county. This year we're running 24, including 15 of the 20 precincts in the city of Twin Falls.
You may remember Scott McClure as the guy who ran a write-in campaign after no one filed to run against Mike Crapo in 2004. I've always admired him for doing that.

Scott ran against Bert Stevenson in 2006 and got stomped 67-33. But much has changed in the Magic Valley since then ... and he'll have more name recognition this time, so good for him.

District 26 is Jerome and Minidoka Counties. It's tough country for any Democrat. We need to turn out the Hispanic vote big time to have a shot there.
